Almond Poppy Seed Bread

I love this bread.  It has been a childhood staple for as long as I can remember, used for special occasions, holidays, & birthdays.  It really shouldn’t even be called a bread — its more like  DESSERT.

I feel like I’m giving away a secret family recipe, but maybe, just maybe, you’ll hold this bread so dear to your heart (much like I do) that it’l become a family tradition as well.  That thought makes it worth sharing.

You’ll Need:

*1 1/2 c flour
* 1 1/3 c sugar
*3/4 tsp salt
*2 eggs
*3/4 c milk
*3/4 c oil
*1 1/2 tsp poppy seeds
*3/4 tsp baking powder
*1 1/2 tsp EACH: vanilla, almond, & butter extracts

GLAZE:
*1/4 c orange juice
*3/4 c sugar
*1/2 tsp EACH: vanilla, almond, & butter extracts

To Make The Bread:
Put all the ingredients into a bowl and mix for 2 minutes.
Pour into a greased loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean

Glaze:
Once the bread is out of the oven, place all ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil.  Simmer for 5 minutes. While the bread is still warm, brush the glaze (or pour) onto the bread.
