I can’t believe its Monday already! I feel like its Friday and I just left the office 5 minutes ago for the weekend! Talk about a whirlwind weekend.
Happy *belated* Father’s Day to all you dads out there! 🙂 I was fortunate to have Saturday off from both of my jobs and drove home to spend time with my Pops. We went shooting at our local gun range and had ourselves a lil ole competition – which he totally won! It took him 20 shots to my 50…I am in need of a lot more practice!! But he is an expert marksman after all, so I don’t feel too bad at my results. 🙂 After our competition, we met up with my mom for lunch and then went home and relaxed for a few hours. I’m insanely happy that I now live close enough to them that day trips don’t involve 7 hours of driving! God is too good!
So, I thought it might be fun to let you all in on what I’m currently reading! Which happens to be multiple books right now of varying time periods and genres. Normally, I don’t read more than 2 books at a time but this week has been different. I couldn’t make up my mind on what I wanted to read – so I’m reading them all!
Within The Veil by Brandy Vallance
Releasing June 28, 2016
Feya Broon, a Scottish half-gypsy, knows what it is to be hungry. Barely able to survive in the Edinburgh tenements, she and her three young siblings are starving. Between her gypsy father’s belief that their blood is cursed, and the faith her mother tried to instill fading, she resorts to the only thing she has left in order to get food for the bairns. But when her last hope brings a chance encounter, she is thrust upon a path to Holyrood Palace and the only man who may be able to change her fate—Alasdair Cairncross, an English Royal Horse Guard with long-buried secrets.
Alasdair has meticulously planned his life, but he never accounted that he’d be forced to transport a thieving gypsy woman halfway across the wilds of Scotland. With his fiancée’s imminent arrival and his father’s greatest political goal within reach, the timing is disastrous. The journey threatens to consume everything he holds dear, and an encounter with superstition in an ancient village exhumes more than memories. As the gypsy’s prejudice begins to crumble and Alasdair’s sense of duty wanes, both must learn how to survive a decades-old feud, a Highland kidnapping, and the awakening of their own hearts.

A Respectable Actress by Dorothy Love
When India Hartley is accused of murder, she must uncover the deceptions of others to save herself.
India Hartley, a famous and beautiful actress, is now alone after her father’s death and embarks upon a tour of theaters across the South. Her first stop is Savannah’s Southern Palace. On the eve of the second night’s performance, something goes horribly wrong. Her co-star, Arthur Sterling, is shot dead on stage in front of a packed house, and India is arrested and accused of the crime.
A benefactor hires Philip Sinclair, the best—and handsomest—lawyer in Savannah to defend India. A widower, Philip is struggling to reinvent his worn-out plantation on St. Simons Island. He needs to increase his income from his law practice in order to restore Indigo Point, and hardly anything will bring him more new clients than successfully defending a famous actress on a murder charge.
Because India can’t go anywhere in town without being mobbed, Philip persuades the judge handling her case to let him take her to Indigo Point until her trial date. India is charmed by the beauty of the Georgia lowcountry and is increasingly drawn to Philip. But a locked room that appears to be a shrine to Philip’s dead wife and the unsolved disappearance of a former slave girl raise troubling questions. Piecing together clues in an abandoned boat and a burned-out chapel, India discovers a trail of dark secrets that lead back to Philip, secrets that ultimately may hold the key to her freedom. If only he will believe her.
