A brief summary from Dawn Crandall:
One accidental kiss. That was all it took to throw Meredyth Summercourt’s world upside-down. Determined to marry the ever-elusive Vance Everstone, she simply doesn’t have the time or the desire to fall for her friend Lawry Hampton. However, with Vance out of the country and Lawry constantly at her side, Meredyth can’t help but wonder if what’s holding her to Vance is nothing more than a desire to redeem herself from their unfortunate past.
When Vance comes home to stake his claim on Meredyth, will she be strong enough to break free from the tangled web she’s convinced she deserves? Or will she find the strength to accept that God’s plan for her life could include redemption… and quite possibly the love of her best-friend?
In a sequel worthy of The Hesitant Heiress, Dawn Crandall exudes the delicate dance between love and duty in The Bound Heart. Crandall’s dramatic storytelling will leave you breathless time and again, up till the very last page! Readers will find themselves falling emotionally captive to the characters and intriguing plot twists within these pages. Seriously – ya’ll are NOT going to want to put this book down!!
After one evening of reckless decisions, Meredyth Summercourt finds her life slowly slipping by as she’s locked in an inner struggle to move beyond what happened with Vance Everstone. But her honor-bound duty demands she stay true to him. Regardless that Vance has been away for years, with nary a moment or letter sent her way. Regardless that Lawry Hampton, her long-time best friend, is by her side daily and just happened to “accidentally” kiss her. Regardless that she doesn’t know what or whom she truly wants in life.
There were times I found myself getting quite upset with Meredyth and how she would berate herself. How she would tell her heart and fully believe that she wasn’t worthy of anything better. In those moments I wanted her to wake up to the realization that her past is forgiven sooner, quicker, fully. You know it’s a great story when you find yourself mumbling about the characters and book hours later! 🙂
The Bound Heart is a superb sequel, but I believe it would make an excellent stand-alone read if you haven’t yet read The Hesitant Heiress. Now I can’t wait to dive into Crandall’s 3rd book in The Everstone Chronicles, The Captive Imposter! Can you tell I’m trying my best to read the series before the final book, The Cautious Maiden, releases next month on October 4?!! I better step up my reading game 🙂
I was graciously provided a free copy of this novel from Whitaker House and Dawn Crandall in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
