A brief summary from Melissa Tagg:
Beckett Walker hasn’t stepped foot in Maple Valley in years. There’s no getting past the painful memories, and there’s every chance he’ll be arrested as soon as he shows his face. Which is exactly what happens when he finally returns. Suddenly his dream of adventure as a military lawyer comes skidding to a halt.
Horticulturist Kit Danby has spent too much time missing home and her childhood best friend—Beckett Walker. Now she might have a shot at reclaiming both. After years of living abroad, she returns to run her family’s apple orchard. She has one season to turn a profit and impress the father she barely knows. But she can’t do it alone.
It should be simple: Beckett needs community service hours. Kit needs a helping hand. But there’s more at stake than either of them planned. With a tangled past and futures that look nothing alike, they’ll have to find a way to weather the storms of the present . . . or risk losing everything.
Keep Holding On is the perfect read for autumn. The words wrap around you like a cozy sweater, leaving you warm and delighted on a chilly day. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I really don’t know if Melissa Tagg can write anything that I don’t love!! Every novel so far has been enticing, hilarious, and Keep Holding On is no exception!
Beckett Walker reluctantly returns home to pick up the mess of his past, but just as he’s about to come clean, he finds himself throw in jail. In order to appease the charges, he must work off his hours doing community service – for however long that may take him. But, Beckett doesn’t have a lot of time. He’s in the middle of a huge interview process to become a JAG lawyer, and serving time is not on the agenda! As much as it hurts him to admit, its not so bad that the former love of his life, Kit Danby, just happens to need help on her apple orchard. Even if that does mean spending a ridiculous amount of hours with the woman who broke his heart.
Returning home from living overseas, Kit finds her family orchard in shambles. The trees are overcome with disease, the house is boarded up, the staff is long gone, and her brother is missing. To make matters worse, the orchard’s finances are a wreck and Kit is at a loss on how to pay for the upgrades. But Kit never backs away from a challenge, especially when one involves her family’s name on the line. Kit decides to take the orchard head-on, bringing it to its former glory, but she needs help. Help she can’t afford to pay. Swallowing her pride, and hurting heart, she agrees to hire on Beckett in return for community service hours. As Beckett and Kit struggle to rebuild the orchard – and their friendship – the sweet taste of redemption is in every delicious apple.
I can’t wait to re-read Keep Holding On when autumn finally decides to descend upon North Carolina. Currently, its in the mid-80s here, and its mid-October!! Too.hot! But when autumn does fall, I plan to cozy up with a mug of hot apple cider and re-read this heart-warming gem. Grab a copy for yourself and settle down in the apple orchards of Maple Valley – you’re going to love this book! 🙂
I was graciously provided a free copy of this novel from Melissa Tagg in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
