A brief summary from Cynthia Ruchti:
Alexis Blake set out to restore a neglected building.

What she didn’t expect was to restore a life…

Alexis has one chance to land her own show on the Heart-and-Home Network, and nothing–not an uncooperative client, a job site without indoor plumbing, or a challenging videographer–is going to stand in her way.

Elsie Raymond, at seventy-plus, is far from the ideal client, but she knows exactly what she wants her fieldstone house to look like, and no designer can tell her otherwise.

Gabe Langley, the man with the camera, is caught in the middle and it is his wisdom and warmth that just may be the bridge that will bring these two women together. Can they restore more than just a house and save Christmas memories from being lost forever?

My Thoughts:
Wanting to win a prestigious home restoration competition for her own TV show, Alexis  gathered every ounce of determination she had to restore a rather dilapidated farmhouse. She wanted her own tv show, and this farmhouse was the only thing that stood in her way. Well, the farmhouse and its owner, a rather stuck-in-the-mud woman who challenged every step of the process. But with Gabe Langley’s help – her videophotographer – and his cute, yet exasperating ways, she was getting one step closer to finishing the house. That is, until disaster struck. Twice. With everything going wrong, will Alexis open her eyes and heart to the restoration that is bigger than the farmhouse? Or, will her goal to win outweigh all else?

Restoring Christmas is my favorite Cynthia Ruchti story yet!! I absolutely loved the characters, setting, plot – basically everything about this novella! Charming till the end, this novella kept me laughing the entire way through. I found myself wishing I had a Gabe in my life with his hilarious wit and wounded past – talk about a charmer!

I highly recommend getting a copy of Restoring Christmas for yourself, your family, friends…even the mailman! Your dog-walker! Or your favorite barista! 🙂 This romantic comedy is sure to elevate your Christmas joy and I know that I, personally, will be re-reading this novella for Christmases to come. Happy Reading!!

I was graciously provided a free copy of this novel from Cynthia Ruchti in exchange for an honest review.  I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

  2. I pinned! Cynthia Ruchti is one of my favorite authors. I love how she uses beautiful, rustic homes and landscapes as part of her story — not just the setting. I haven’t heard of this book before, though.
