A brief summary from Laura Frantz:
After fleeing Virginia, Temperance Tucker and her family established an inn along the Shawnee River. It’s a welcome way station for settlers and frontiersmen traveling through the wild Cumberland region of Kentucke–men like Sion Morgan, a Virginia surveyor who arrives at the inn with his crew looking for an experienced guide. When his guide appears, Sion balks. He certainly didn’t expect a woman. But it is not long before he must admit that Tempe’s skill in the wilderness rivals his own. Still, the tenuous tie they are forming is put to the test as they encounter danger after danger and must rely on each other.
With her signature sweeping style and ability to bring the distant past to vivid life, Laura Frantz beckons readers to join her in a land of Indian ambushes, conflicting loyalties, and a tentative love that meanders like a cool mountain stream.
Prepare yourself for the wilds of Kentucke, the allure of the mountains, and the unsteady tempers as settlers, frontiersmen, and Native Americans clash with their ideas of who owns the land. A Moonbow Night takes the reader on a wild adventure, teasing with unexpected encounters and nature’s dramatic allure.
Tempe Tucker knows the wild frontier of Kentucke as well as any man, if not better. When a crew of surveyors pass through her homestead in need of a guide, Tempe has some misgivings on joining them. But she’ll do anything to keep her father safe and hidden, even if that means joining up with the men.
As a single woman.
Thankfully, there is one man she can trust in the group – Sion Morgan, the lead surveyor. Sion exudes quiet strength and confidence, unlike the other fellows in the group, and Tempe finds herself in a budding friendship the longer they travel together. But can their new-found friendship survive the devastating blow of disaster and a frontier at war?
Laura Frantz’s latest novel is a pioneering adventure! While I wish there was a bit more of a romantic timeline woven into the plot, I found myself thoroughly enjoying this read based in the 1700’s. In her sweeping style, Frantz delivers a novel of intricate details, vibrant characters, and a wild, uncharted land waiting to be discovered. Grab A Moonbow Night for yourself and get ready for a wild adventure!
