A brief summary from Melanie Dickerson:
Leorah Langdon has no patience for Regency society’s shallow hypocrisy and unnecessary rules, especially for women.

She’s determined to defy convention by marrying for grand passion instead of settling for a loveless union like her parents—or wedding a stuffy, pompous gentleman like Edward, the Viscount Withinghall. But when a chance meeting in the countryside leads to Leorah and Withinghall being discovered in his overturned carriage—alone and after dark—the ensuing gossip may force them together.

Withinghall has his reasons for clinging to propriety; his father perished in a duel with his mistress’s husband, and Edward must avoid scandal himself if he wants to become prime minister. He certainly has no time for a reckless hoyden like Miss Langdon. But soon the two discover that Withinghall’s coach “accident” was no such thing: the vehicle was sabotaged.

Can the culprit be brought to justice? Strong-willed Leorah and duty-driven Withinghall will have to work together if they have any hope of saving her reputation, his political career—and his life.

My Thoughts:
I absolutely LOVED the hero in Melanie Dickerson’s latest novel, A Viscount’s Proposal, Edward Withinghall!! While he is rather stuffy and uptight (think: Mr. Darcy) that air of self-worth only serves to cover his incredibly sensitive heart. A heart that Edward works to protect from the multitude of woman vying to become the future Mrs. Withinghall, a status symbol backed by wealth.

Unlike the multitude of single woman in town, Leorah Langdon (our leading lady) is not trying to land the notorious Viscount Withinghal. In fact, she finds him quit dull and pompous! He’s quite an unlikely suitor, and not at all complementary to her friendly, flighty self. Besides, Leorah will never marry for anything other than true, passionate love, and Edward doesn’t seem the kind of man to be passionate…about anything, really.

Unfortunate circumstances bring Leorah and Edward together and their reputations are suddenly called into question. When the only remedy seems to be a proposal that would unite them for life, can Leorah and Edward overcome their extreme differences to create a life together? Or, will they forever be surrounded by scandal and ruin?

I am extremely glad Melanie decided to try her hand at writing regency novels when she published her first book, A Spy’s Devotion, in The Regency Spies of London series last year! I can only hope she continues to write in this era (in addition to her incredible re-tellings of famous fairytales) for many more books to come!! 🙂 A Viscount’s Proposal is set to release on February 7, 2017 but is available for pre-order now on Amazon! Happy Reading, my friends!!

I was graciously provided a free copy of this novel from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.  I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

Anne, I don’t think I could ever get enough of Melanie Dickerson’s writing!! I’ll admit to being timid about her writing Regency and then I felt like a traitor for ever doubting her! 🙂 I hope you’ll love this book too – only 8 more days!! YAY! 🙂
