About The Author:
Ya’ll get ready to for all the dreamy sighs coming your way in Carolyn Miller’s The Captivating Lady Charlotte.
After her social debut, Lady Charlotte is ready to find and marry the love of her life, even if her ideal man has little to no money or title to his name. Only, her parents have a different idea for her future and dismiss her lofty ideals. They even dismiss the man she’s fallen in love with, instead announcing she is to marry the Duke, William Hartwell, who happens to be, well, rather older than Charlotte herself.
Grieved with this news, Charlotte barely goes through all the motions of an engagement all the while pining for her true love. But as William begins to break into her heart, Charlotte wonders if she could ever love a man with so much scandal surrounding him and his former marriage. Never mind that William is already head over heals in love with the young and vivacious Charlotte and has made his intentions well known. As kind as William is, the man is always watching her and Charlotte would rather be free to do as she please! When disturbing occurrences being to happen around the estate, will Charlotte choose to place her faith in William and stay, or run away with the man she’s fallen in love with?
The Captivating Lady Charlotte is incredibly dreamy and romantic. I enjoyed William’s adoration, but also loved that Charlotte wasn’t certain in her feelings and the choices she made. It was intriguing to read Charlotte work through these emotions as the story progressed. I found myself taking an incredible dislike to her mother though – ya’ll will soon understand once you read the novel, I’m sure!
Fans of the Regency era will adore this sequel novel in Carolyn Miller’s Regency Brides series. While my heart loves and holds the first novel, The Elusive Miss Ellison, as my favorite in this series, I do highly recommend reading The Captivating Lady Charlotte.
