A brief summary from Kara Isaac:
Paige McAllister needs to do something drastic. Her boyfriend can’t even commit to living in the same country, her promised promotion is dead on arrival and the simultaneous loss of her brother and her dream of being a concert violinist has kept her playing life safe and predictable for six years. Things need to change. A moment of temporary insanity finds her leaving her life in Chicago to move to Sydney, Australia. There she finds herself, against many of her convictions, as a logistics planner for one of Australia’s biggest churches, and on a collision course with her boss’s son.
Josh Tyler fronts a top-selling worship band and is in demand all over the world. But, in the past, his failed romantic relationships almost destroyed both his reputation and his family. He’s determined to never risk it happening again. The last thing he needs is some American girl tipping his ordered life upside down. Especially one who despises everything he’s ever worked for and manages to push every button he has.
When Josh and Paige are thrown together to organize his band’s next tour, the sparks fly. But can they find a way to bridge the differences that pull them apart? Or will they choose the safety and security of what they know over taking a chance on something that will require them to risk everything?
Kara Isaac has written another, fabulously detailed story with characters who will tug at your heartstrings as they deal with life’s heavy-handed issues and the sweet comedic dance of a budding relationship. After reading Kara’s first two novels, Close to You and Can’t Help Falling, I was incredibly excited to read her third novel, Then There Was You, and ya’ll, I was not disappointed!
Not one for impulse decisions, Paige McAllister suddenly finds herself on a plane, moving to Australia, and fulfilling her deceased brother’s bucket list. Talk about uprooting one’s life on a whim!
With her work visa in place, Paige agrees to work for a mega church, despite her qualms about mega churches, to help facilitate and plan a woman’s conference later that summer. What she doesn’t plan on is to starting liking her new boss’ son, Josh Tyler, a globetrotting, powerhouse, worship leader who performs concerts worldwide. In fact, Paige tries to avoid him at all costs, which is hard to do when she’s suddenly in charge of the band’s travel plans and itinerary!
Josh just so happens to be on the same page as the gorgeous, albeit clumsy, American. He’s got no time for an office romance, especially with one who’s leaving in a few months and could damage his reputation. He’s been burned badly enough with past relationships, no need to do that again. But as Josh and Paige begin to work together, sparks fly. But with Paige’s past holding her back, is there even a chance at a future? And when Paige’s boyfriend shows up…well, let’s just say things escalate quickly!
Kara’s Then There Were Was You is quirky, incredibly relatable, and endearingly comedic. I can not wait to see what she writes next and I highly recommend this or her other two novels as must reads!
I was graciously provided a free copy of this novel from Kara Isaac in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
