A brief summary from Tabitha Lord:

In the second installment of the award-winning Horizon series, Dr. Caeli Crys returns to her war-torn world to fight for those she left behind.

Almagest, Caeli’s home, stands on the brink of revolution. Long hidden from the rest of the galaxy, the once-peaceful planet suffers under a regime that grows more violent and oppressive by the day. Marcus, Almagest’s dictator, is building an arsenal of alien weaponry by selling empathic children into slavery. A resistance has risen, but they are outmanned, outgunned, and in hiding.

Joined by Commander Derek Markham and his elite squadron of operatives, Caeli embarks on a dangerous mission to find the Resistance, rescue her captive people, and save her civilization from destruction.

My Thoughts:

Building on the tension in Horizon, Tabitha Lord’s second novel, Infinity, brings a whirlwind of action, political unrest, and romance.

Accepting a mission that isn’t quite approved by the Allegiance due to regulations, Commander Derek Markham makes good on his promise to bring Dr. Caeli Crys home to her planet, Almagest. But this secret mission to aid the resistance isn’t going to be easy. Upon arriving on Almagest, Derek and Caeli find things more worse than they thought – the resistance is scattered, starving, and broken; the will to fight almost gone. It’s up to Derek, Caeli, and their elite team of operatives to ignite the spark of resistance again and defeat Marcus, the ruling dictator, once and for all. But as their people get picked off one by one, will the resistance be the ones to lose the battle after all?

Infinity is packed with so much action that it was hard to put this book down. In fact, I breezed through this novel in two sittings – it was so good! I may actually like it better than Horizon! I loved the fact that Caeli got a bit of rest for her soul while staying with Derek’s family before having to go back into battle on her home planet. And their relationship was so sweet, how they both cared for one another through all the struggle, even enough to let each other go at times. Infinity ends with quite the set-up for a third installment of this series, and I’m excited to see where this story goes next.

I would like to make a point to say this book might not be suited for children due to multiple sexual encounters in this novel, including an act of rape.
